Thank you to our volunteers…

This weekend we finished packing away the trail tools and closed our camps for the season. Despite the recent good weather, winter is on its way to Thórsmörk.

We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who joined our teams and worked with us this season. 2017 was our most ambitious season so far and together the volunteers completed more than 300 weeks of trail maintenance and nature conservation work across Thórsmörk, Goðaland and along the Laugavegurinn trail.

Thank you all for your hard work and enthusiasm throughout those long days on the trails. Thank you for staying cheerful even when we were moving materials out to distant work sites or working through the days when the rain didn’t stop. Thank you for your friendship and support. We hope that you enjoyed your time in Iceland and have some good memories of your work with us in Thórsmörk. Thank you for accepting the challenge – thank you for choosing us.

We will take a short break in November before beginning preparations for next season. 2018 placement information, project dates and application forms will be published here on December 15th and applications will be open until January 31st.

I second that. My previous visits have been for holidays, so for this trip it was wonderful to have the opportunity to give something back to Iceland. The team in Básar were an amazing group and I had a great time with them. Thank you Chas for allowing me to be play a part in your grand plan for Thórsmörk.
