Volunteers wanted! Trailteam applications for 2026 are now open

Today, we begin our search for volunteers who will join us in 2026.

We are very excited to begin gathering the team for next season. Our new programme includes both three and four-week volunteer placements, and our planned trail maintenance and conservation projects continue throughout Thórsmörk and Goðaland next summer. Places are limited, and allocations begin in the New Year, so if you would like to join us next summer, don’t delay!

Full details, including placement descriptions, dates, and application forms, are now available here…

Looking back at 2025… Pictures from our adventures last summer

We have collected some of our favourite pictures from last season that were taken by our volunteers. They show our teams working on the trails and capture everyday life at the Langidalur volunteer camp. Many great memories of our amazing teams and our time together last summer.

The search for volunteers will begin again soon, and placement applications for 2026 will open on December 15th. Full details, including dates and application forms, will be available here.

Thank you to our volunteers!

Thank you to everyone who joined us on the trails this season. This year, we were joined by 44 international volunteers, and together we completed more than 150 weeks of trail maintenance and practical conservation tasks throughout Thórsmörk and Goðaland.

Our last October task was to survey the worksites and take a look at all the season’s projects. It was very encouraging to see so many repaired sections, and the improved drainage has clearly been working very well. Despite some remote locations and the challenging conditions, a huge amount was achieved this season, and the results speak for themselves.

We really enjoyed working with such great teams and hope that our volunteers have good memories of their time with us on the trails and their adventures in Thórsmörk.

After a short break, we will begin gathering our trail volunteers for 2026. Full details, including placement dates and application forms, will be available here on December 15th.

Thank you to all our volunteers!

This year our trail work season ended in late October and as the first snow showers arrived in Langidalur, we closed the volunteer camp and headed down for our winter break.

We would like thank everyone who volunteered with us and made 2024 a really great season. Despite the wet conditions and some challenging and remote worksites, our teams worked very well and completed a long list of construction and maintenance tasks. We hope that our volunteers enjoyed their placements and have some good memories of their days with us out on the trails.

This season we were joined by 50 international volunteers and together we completed more than 200 weeks of trail maintenance and practical conservation tasks throughout Thórsmörk and Goðaland. In addition to our general work tasks across the trail network, this year our teams focused on trail repairs on the approach to Rjúpnafell and the west side of Útigönguhöði. A huge amount was achieved and the results speak for themselves.

Preparations for next season are already underway and applications open soon. Dates, details and application forms for our 2025 projects will be available here on December 15th.
