Pre-departure meetings for our team

Tomorrow’s application deadline will be followed by a final round of interviews and placement allocations in February. Once these are completed, our attention will turn to preparing the team and organising the summer projects.

This season, we will invite all new participants to pre-departure Skype meetings that will take place 4-6 weeks before the placements start. These meetings are an opportunity to discuss travel plans and equipment as well as any other details. They will help to answer any last minute questions and ensure that all participants are prepared for their visit, and ready for their adventures in Thórsmörk.

Volunteer application update… Places filling fast!

Thank you to everyone who has been in contact about placements with us in Thórsmörk next season.

Here at Trailteam headquarters, we are now busy working through all the applications that have reached us in the last few days. It is a difficult task, and in order to talk to as many people as possible we have added two extra days to the first round of interviews, so that they will now cover 29th and 30th December as well as the planned 2nd January.

With so many applications arriving each day, we recommend that if you are thinking of joining us – don’t delay sending your application. The closing date for all applications is January 31st but we will begin allocating places on January 2nd.

2016 programme dates… coming soon

After a restful autumn break, we are now back to work and busy preparing our 2016 volunteer programme. The placement dates, project details and application forms will be published here on December 19^th.

Once again, the programme will include two and six-week projects as well as longer placements for volunteers joining our operations team (helping with organisation and team leadership). The first Skype interviews will take place on January 2^nd and placements will be allocated as soon as suitable applicants are found.

Summer is on the way – Don’t miss your chance!

It may not seem like it in Iceland (or elsewhere) right now, but the summer is not so far away. We will be back at the Langidalur base camp within about three months, making preparations ahead of the arrival of the first volunteer teams in May.

January is normally our biggest recruitment month, but this season we have been overwhelmed by the response to our programme dates that were published just before Christmas. We have been very busy with enquiries, applications and Skype interviews which means the teams are quickly filling up and it is likely that most of the places will be allocated within the next few weeks.

As things are moving faster than we planned (and faster than in previous seasons), we wanted to suggest a date so that applicants did not miss their chance. If you would like to join us this summer, we recommend that you complete the online application before 31st January so that we can include you in our last big application review day for 2015. Later applications will be considered for any remaining or last minute places that become available up until 15th March.
