Our work in 2022

This year we returned for our tenth Trailteam season in Thórsmörk and Goðaland.

We were joined by 46 international volunteers and together our teams completed more than 200 weeks of trail maintenance and practical nature conservation tasks throughout the area.

This year’s trail work included a series of ongoing projects on the Laugavegur and Fimmvörðuháls trails where our teams focused on step construction and drainage. New trail projects in 2022 included timber box steps at Gluggahellir and log steps and drains close to the Elf-Church (west of Réttarfell). Local stone is used when available, but our teams specialise in the use forest timber in the construction of the area’s hiking trails.
